NEW ! Homes Sweet Homes

Homes, sweet homes...  A few weeks ago  I had the pleasure of painting a friend's family home, commissioned as a gift for a special birthday. It was such fun, that I thought I'd go back through my catalog and compile some other projects, special homes and places I've made for folks, for all manner of occasions. The styles vary a bit, but in each, I've worked with the clients and tried to capture the spirit of these special places. I'm pleased to say that the recipients have always been surprised and pleased with these one of a kind gifts.  I'd love to make something special for you!
The Nativity..  Chicago’s Unity Lutheran Church commissioned this painting of the Nativity, based on one of the church’s stained glass windows.  It was made to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Unity.
The Crucifixion.   Another commissioned painting from Unity Lutheran Church in Chicago to commemorate  their centennial celebration.
 
Anne’s World.  This large piece was made in honor of a lovely lady’s 70th birthday. It takes a look back on the “landscape of her life”,  at the special places, landmarks, and her special little home in the hills.

The Chateau. This unique little house portrait, was made its owner. A lovely getaway in the south of France.
Gabby. A tribute to my niece and her beautiful new baby, Braeden.

#8.  A “house portrait” ... a Christmas gift for a lovely couple, commemorating their cozy home.  Watercolor and ink. 
Gerber Rescue.  This painting was recently commissioned by a client moving into her dream home. Watercolor and ink with gold embellishments.

Lover’s Moon (Ipo Mahina)
In this wedding portrait, the newly married couple rise up in joy. 
This was the scene of their beach wedding in Hawaii. In my picture, I’ve added a touch of magic to the festivities. 
Julia. “For a brand new mom, and her baby daughter.”
Jessica's Costa Rica “ A thank you gift for a special yoga instructor, commemorating a yoga retreat in Costa Rica”
King Bo “A pet portrait, for a very important member of a client’s family. That’s a Game of Thrones crown on Bo’s head!”
The Violist.   A portrait of the talented symphony musician Matthew Barwegen.
The singer.  Here’s a recent portrait, created for the fabulous jazz singer NIcole Zuriaitis.
The Lovers Arrive.  A lovely lady commissioned this piece as a birthday gift for her longtime beau, celebrating their history together.  Shortly after, she proposed. He said yes!

So Strong. This picture celebrates the challenging, wonderful journey, leading up to the birth of a couple’s first child.

Davey Rocks! (The Dressing Womb) .  A baby shower gift for a special couple, celebrating their first child.  Mom’s an actor, dad’s a rocker!
Angel. In memory of a beloved pet.  This husky’s idea of heaven.

​This pet portrait was a special birthday gift for a feline enthusiast!
The Stage Door Series.  
A series celebrating the theatre. Commissioned by Stage Door Designs. 

And I Know It Shines For Me “A Christmas commission for a client’s mom. This was a beloved memory of a childhood home, including a lullaby. There’s a light shining bright, in the window tonight, and I know it shines for me.”
Joan’s Garden. A specially commissioned thank you gift for a special lady, commemorating years of friendship and service.
Adam’s World. Commissioned for a young musician on his college graduation. Commemorating the places he’s been and the world he’s about to explore!
Vincent. A beautiful Chicago restaurant, this was made for the owner, soon to be made into postcards to advertise his delicious place.
Julia. Made with Grandma in mind, this is lovely Julia playing in the back yard.

​Magic on the Hudson. This project was a lot of fun.  It’s a whimsical view of the West Village neighborhood in New York City.  It was created for a young tv and film editor, celebrating her favorite urban experiences. There she is, zooming over the city on her magic Vespa. Watercolor, ink, with gold embellishments.
Two Sunflowers. This was a commission, inspired by another. A client saw the Gerber painting, and wanted a Sunflower piece in the same style.  It was a gift for a friend in the airline industry, and if you look carefully you can see a tiny plane hidden in the background. Watercolor, acrylic and ink, with gold embellishments. 
Janet’s Alaska.   This larger canvas was a family gift, commissioned to celebrate a mom’s birthday, and everything she loves about her home in Alaska.  Acrylic on canvas.
Twilight Lake.   A companion piece to “Lanier by night” . This is another view of Lake Lanier, in the early evening light. Watercolor.
The Lover’s Embark (Let Me Sow Love) -  A very cool shower gift, for an extremely cool couple, on the verge of getting married.
Father’s Day. “This mixed media painting was commissioned for a Father’s Day gift. It celebrates the client’s favorite way to spend time - in the backyard garden with his young son.”
Tony and Sons. "This was a birthday gift commission for my friend Tony. I adapted photographed images to create this moment in silhouette, of Tony and his young boys at their new home in Florida." 
Robot Chick - "A birthday gift for a robot enthusiast".
